The Horsemans Sunday Service
Last years event was a resounding success, Canon Godfrey Hirst preached to the congregation from the saddle of the aptly named Amazing Grace III during the outdoor service. Known as the ‘Cantering Canon' because of his enthusiasm for horses, his service gave thanks for the contribution the horse has made, and continues to make, to the enrichment of so many people's lives. Each horse was individually blessed and they were all given a commemorative rosette as well as a British Horse Society Jubilee Sash.
The Horseman's Sunday Service has been held on the first Sunday in October for 12 years, the event goes from strength to strength and has become a main feature of the local calendar attracting many spectators as well as participants.
