HORSES SLASHED AND SHOT IN HORRIFIC ATTACK
| HORSES SLASHED AND SHOT IN HORRIFIC ATTACK Report by: (This is) Lincolnshire.co.uk - Lincolnshire Echo Eight horses have been slashed and shot in what is thought to have been an horrific attack at an equine welfare centre near Lincoln. The animals were found with deep slash wounds and injuries apparently from air rifles. Silver Florin Equine Welfare owner Vennessa Malone said one two-year-old horse called Keiro was found with bone-deep slash wounds on his legs and seven other animals had been shot. | ![]() |
"Kiero was slashed three times and seven other horses were shot, apparently with an air rifle. One horse had 14 wounds," she said.
"As soon as my daughter saw his leg she screamed.
"I can't bring myself to believe that someone could do this."
The Malone family discovered the injured animals as they went on their daily visit to a field in Bardney Road, Washingborough, where the horses were kept temporarily.
"We rang the vet straight away," said Mrs Malone.
"Based on their observation they said it was unlikely that a fence had caused the injury.
"It makes me feel so sick. I won't rest until justice is done. I just wish someone would come forward with information."
The animals at the centre have all been rescued from abuse, neglect or abandonment and the centre relies on charitable donations to run.
