Judges confirmed for BHS Young Instructor of the Year

Judges confirmed for BHS Young Instructor of the Year

The British Horse Society Training Department has chosen Sue Payne FBHS, Richard Davison FBHS and BHS Chairman Patrick Print FBHS as judges for the final of this year's Young Instructor of the Year competition.

Alison Skyers, Senior Executive Training said: "We are extremely lucky to have secured such high-calibre and experienced judges for our Young Instructor final. The whole team is looking forward to an exciting climax to this year's competition. We would also like to wish all competitors the best of luck."

Sue Payne FBHS has trained many eventers at different levels and is a dedicated trainer of the highest quality, with a renowned empathy for her pupils. Sue regularly trains and mentors candidates for the BHSI and Fellowship exams.

Richard Davison FBHS has been awarded many accolades during his equestrian career. He was six times British number one in the international dressage rider rankings between 1996 and 2002, was awarded the FEI Gold Badge of Honour in 2003, and the BEF Medal of Honour for recognition of activities connected with international endeavour in the same year. In addition, Richard won a team silver medal at the European Championships in 1993 and was a member of the bronze medal winning team in 2003.

Patrick Print FBHS became a Fellow of the BHS in 1995 and Chairman of the BHS in 2004. Patrick is also a BHS Chief Examiner, Riding Club Master Judge and has been a member of the Society for 30 years. He has a wealth of experience as an instructor teaching students for exams, and competition riders from grass roots upwards.

The Young Instructor of the Year competition was developed by The British Horse Society to offer aspiring young instructors and coaches an opportunity to display and develop their coaching skills, as well as to continue with their own professional development. 

The competition is open to anyone who is 30 years of age or under, holds a minimum of the BHS Preliminary Teaching Test and is actively involved in the equine industry.
