British Eventing announces two new Regional Coordinators

British Eventing is pleased to announce the appointment of two new Regional Coordinators, Philip Surl and Pattie Biden.

Pattie will already be known to many through her current involvement with the Lycetts British Eventing Young Horse series and will be taking on the role of the Regional Coordinator for the Southern Region, following the retirement of Robert Mackenzie on 1st August 2010.

Philip Surl, who is also currently a British Eventing Technical Adviser, will be taking the role of Regional Coordinator for the newly created Eastern Region on the 7th June 2010.

Pattie, who was herself an event rider for many years, whose successes include top ten placings at Badminton and Burghley, started organising the former Barnsley Horse Trials in 1986, and was involved with numerous other horse trials including Mattingley.

She is now the organiser for Gatcombe Park Horse trials (which runs twice a year) and has been since 1981.

In 2007, Pattie took over the reins to run the British Eventing Young Horse Championships which is now in its 7th year.

Alongside her many other accolades Pattie is also both an FEI and a BE steward. She also started the BEOA in 1994 and worked tirelessly as Chairman till 2002.

Philip Surl has also had a varied career in Eventing which started with his competitive career in 1980; since then he has ridden at all levels up to and including four star level.

Philip has been working with Yogi Breisner and other elite team coaches, on improving coaching skills on the Coaching Development Team, which has been set up by Yogi and run through British Eventing. As part of this development, Phillip has attended all national CCI* and CCI2* events over the past two years to assist with training throughout the competition, alongside other members of the Coaching Development Team.

In 2008 Philip was trained by British Eventing to become a Technical Adviser, working at all levels of the sport nationally and has been doing so ever since.

In addition to his numerous commitments within British Eventing, Philip is also a Neuro Linguistic Practitioner (NLP) in Sport.
