We are all aware that the smaller Riding Schools operate on very small profit margins and having to close, even for a two week period, due to an infectious disease could have serious consequences.
It is not just Strangles that is a potential threat but also Influenza and Venereal disease.
We have arranged for a FREE Extension to be added to our business interruption cover of our Equestrian Property Policy to provide up to £10,000 of loss of Income if a School has to close because of an outbreak of an infectious disease. In addition if an existing Horse is diagnosed by a vet to have an insured disease we will pay out up to £1,000 for vaccination of the other horses at the school to help prevent the spread and perhaps halt the closure.
In addition to this extension we offer Care Custody and Control cover in case a customer takes legal action against a Riding School owner for acting negligently in the event of an infectious outbreak which causes death or physical harm to a customer's horse.
These types of risk emphasise the importance of the Insurance Industry responding to the needs of Riding Schools and we are proud to think that we are in fact unique in this offering.
