OLIVER'S FUTURE OFFERS HIM MORE
OLIVER'S FUTURE OFFERS HIM MORE A skewbald horse called Oliver, who was removed by the RSPCA from his West Midlands owners in January, is looking forward a new life now that he is back to health thanks to the safe and patient care of Redwings Horse Sanctuary.
Oliver's previous owners have just been given a life ban from owning animals.
Oliver, now a happy outgoing horse who enjoys a bit of fuss, was found underweight, suffering from louse infestation and had a respiratory disease. Sadly his basic needs had not been met: Oliver had not been fed properly nor received any veterinary attention for his health problems. He had been suffering for several months. | Oliver is now a happy outgoing horse who enjoys a bit of fuss. |
Fifteen year-old Oliver now lives at Redwings' centre in Oxhill, Warwickshire and is enjoying lots of fresh air, tasty grass, good food, clean water and a deep bed at night.
"When Oliver came to us it was a sorry sight," explains Helen Glen, Equine Centre Manager at Redwings' Oxhill centre who has been overseeing Oliver's recovery and daily care. "He had a severe lung infection, was lethargic, quiet and miserable. After months of treatment for his breathing problems, which included the use of an equine inhaler, and lots of loving care he is now a changed horse. Oliver is full of life, very cheeky and always likes to know what is going on. " | Oliver was removed by the RSPCA from his West Midlands owners in January. Photograph taken by the RSPCA |
