History, mystery and magic... do you fancy the BHS Jordan challenge ride?
Participants will experience the breathtaking beauty of Jordan on horseback while raising crucial funds to help further the Society's welfare work.
The Bedouin Challenge takes riders approximately 125km across Wadi Rum, one of the most stunning areas of Jordan. The vastness of the landscape will envelop challengers as they ride through massive rock canyons and over the silky sand dunes, dining under the desert stars and sleeping in Bedouin tents and the hustle and bustle of everyday life at home will seem a million miles away.
Joanna Smith from Collingham, who took part in this year's challenge, said: "This was a once in a lifetime experience that will always have a special place in my heart. I didn't realise that I would form such a bond with my horse in such a short space of time and I have never felt so emotional when it all came to an end!"
To take part all you need to do is pay a registration fee of £250 to BHS Welfare and raise a minimum of £2,000 eight weeks before the event. This may seem like a large amount but with a little effort it is entirely achievable.
Alison Martin, another of this year's challengers, said: "To raise a minimum of £2,000 is daunting and I did have a few panicky moments. However, family and friends were helpful and encouraging and the timing of this ride (being the spring) is useful because it allows you to make full use of Christmas which is a time for contacting people anyway and makes it feel less like ‘cold calling'.
"I found the whole experience a rewarding challenge and totally humbling too because so many people were unbelievably generous."
