| Exciting Finish to British Eventing's Winter JAS Series British Eventing are pleased to announce the weekend's results from the Baileys Jumping and Style (JAS) championship, held at Addington Manor in Buckinghamshire, Saturday 27th February. The series celebrates its tenth year this year and, for the first time, the top two riders from the Open class automatically qualify for the Indoor Eventing at the British Open Show Jumping Championships in April. |  |
Thirteen year old Essex-based, Madeleine Taylor, took the pre-season spoils this year in the JAS BE90, with her own Dakota IV. Madeleine is evidently a fan of BE's pre-season and early season series', since she was also British Eventing's Jump Training BE90 winner in the 2009 series final, also on Dakota IV. Pumbaa Goess-Saurau came in second place with Mayfair Daisy, followed by Elizabeth Mantel on Caoimhes Delight.
The JAS BE100 class was won by Swindon-based, Alice Bibby, on her own Summerhouse Coconut and was closely followed by Georgina Wood (Snowdon Ozzie) in second place. In third place was 2009 Young Rider Georgie Spence, with Bonmahon Bouncer. Georgie is supported by series sponsor, Baileys Horse Feeds, and was also fourth in this section on another of her five rides, Merlot Time.
Like Georgie, 2009 Young Rider Gold Medalist, Laura Collett, had a busy day, with 5 rides across the classes. Laura took first place in the JAS BE Novice final with her own Jitterbug. A point behind her was Alice Sandberg (Quidor VDV), followed by Georgina Wood, who had qualified for both the BE100 section and the Novice on Snowdon Ozzie.
The highly anticipated JAS Open section, which guaranteed a place in the British Open Show Jumping Championships' Indoor Cross Country class to the two highest-placed riders, was won by Wills Goodhew, with David Doel in second place. The class provided a nail-biting finish to what had been a whole day of top class competition, with the result really not decided until the last horse jumped. David's qualification for the British Open will be transferred to third-placed rider, Gabby Cooke, as David has decided to focus his young horse and his commitment to the Racesafe-sponsored Junior squad for the 2010 season.
Joint organiser of the series, Kenneth Clawson, said of the winners of the JAS Open: "It was great to see how Wills and David have progressed during the series. They both used their improved techniques stylishly and intelligently to deliver excellent performances in a really competitive class. My thanks also go to Jane Buchan from Baileys, who came along on the day, and to Baileys for their fantastic support of this popular series."

Champions from all sections of the final went home with valuable prizes; including £500-worth of training plus £50 vouchers for free feed from Baileys.
