British Horse Society advises horse owners to be vigilant

Dear VFH

Regarding your article of the 4th June 08  - The British Horse Society advises horse owners to be vigilant.

My wife has a chestnut mare, within 500 yards of the field there are a further 15 horses.

Two  european men were photographing the horses just over a week ago, this was reported to the Northamptonshire Police. One of the houses next to my wifes field, noticed two  very suspious men in a white escort van, driving up to the start of the field & then reversing back, then  they sped away, this was Thursday 12th at around mid day.

All of the horse owners have been on watch.

Since then  a yellow square has been marked in the middle of the road by the start of the field my wifes horse is in, along with some blue writting (AW) we assume to make it look as though some work men are going to carry out water works. My wife and myself went straight to the farmer of the field, he has had no notice from Anglian Water nor knows of any road works to be carried out.  Another field further up the lane has also had a mark put on her gate. We reported this to the Northamptonshire Police.

I understand that these signs are normally left by the horse theives between 24 & 72 hours of theft.

All of us are now on red alert.

Yours sincerely
DK Northamptonshire
