Passports and Amersham
Passports and Amersham
Dear VFH,
I having conformed to Defras law of having a Passport for each Equine feel its only right to ask if Defra have yet become involved in the case in Amersham. Surely, Defra is the one organisation that can carry weight to a prosecution with this dealer who basically hasnt got a care for Equines, law, or other people.
As yet I have not heard of a prosecution being bought to anybody regarding passports so this guy should definately be made an example of when questioned regarding over 100 passports. When passports were introduced everybody was up in arms, me included. Well at the same time we all went and paid to have our ponies vet markings etc done and passports drawn up. It didnt come cheaply but we did it. I suppose the idea behind it was good but it was so obvious like laws of every kind in this Country it would not be policed by the relevant agency. This is the type of case where passports woud have helped no end to at least know where some of the Equines had come from. Please try and find out if Defra are involved. If they are not then it makes a complete mockery of the passport system and is as we said in the first place, yet another rip off.
